Frequently Asked Questions

Difference between GroundGuardians & One Call?
One Call is the notification system. We are an intermediary that manages the entire request process for you. Using our service means no account registrations, learning curve, missing details, or chasing utility companies. We handle the bureaucracy.
Which utilities are notified?
Gas, Hydro, Water, Sewer, Internet, and Municipality. Note: Private infrastructure (pools, sprinklers to sheds, etc.) installed by homeowners are NOT covered by public utilities. You may need a private locator for those.
Do I need a locate for hand digging?
Yes. Using hand tools does not exempt you from the legal requirement to obtain a locate. Utilities can be buried shallowly, and striking one with a shovel can still cause significant damage or injury. The law applies to all excavation methods.
